We are pleased to announce ‘Trini Kids Can Write’, a creative writing competition which aims to reintroduce kids to the love of creative writing and story telling.

Paradise Pulse Online Magazine has teamed up with Mario's and Poui Publications to launch this exciting competition, which targets kids of ages 9-12 across Trinidad and Tobago. The first place winner will win a Mario's Birthday party at a Mario’s restaurant (which includes face-painting, cake, ice cream and a puppet show), the second place winner wins a Mario’s lime for friends and the third place winner will win a Mario’s pizza.

The programme was launched on 19th May 2016 at Mario's St Augustine branch where five primary schools were in attendance: ROSEC Private School, The University School, Belmont RC Government, Atwell's Educational Institute and Lucia's Private School. Kids were exposed to various creative as well as stimulating games (including trivia, finish-the-story and others). Even the teachers participated in some of the games with students performing the roles of judges. Prizes were courtesy Mario's and kids were treated to Mario's pizza for lunch. Finally, to kick off the programme, kids were asked to write a short story. Here are two exciting videos from the launch:

Parents are encouraged to enter their kids and teachers are encouraged to enter their students.

The first topic is: The day I discovered my superhero powers.

Kids can enter via submitting entries (together with their names, addresses, ages, names of schools and contact information) to pouipublishingandproductions@gmail.com or by depositing them into the entry boxes at any Mario's restaurant.

Mario's, Paradise Pulse and Poui Publications will be visiting more schools to spread awareness of the joys of creative writing.
